INS – Schache
OUTS – Petty (concussion), Laurie (Round 6 sub)

JOSH Schache will play his first official game for Melbourne this weekend, as the Demons prepare to face the Kangaroos on Saturday night.

Schache arrived at the club during the 2022 AFL Trade Period, coming across from the Western Bulldogs to add experience, height and skill to the Melbourne line-up.

The club debut comes after a number of dominant displays in the VFL, with his accuracy in front of goals a standout, booting nine goals from his three games.

While the Saturday match will see Schache’s debut, the Dees will be without Harrison Petty, the utility sidelined due to concussion.

Petty collided with teammate Tom Sparrow in the final minutes of Monday night’s Anzac Day Eve game and will subsequently miss the club’s Round 7 clash against North Melbourne.

High Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith said the Demon had entered the AFL’s concussion protocols following the match.

“Unfortunately, at the end of the game, Harrison sustained a head knock,” Griffith told Melbourne Media.

“Following a review, it was diagnosed that he sustained a concussion. He’s integrated into the concussion protocols and will progress as symptoms allow.”
