VFL

Geelong Cats 19.11 (125) d Casey Scorpions 8.11 (59)

Dom Barry:
Dom had a quiet game after a good first half when he used the ball well. He had just the 10 disposals and did not do enough defensively when Geelong had the ball.

Sam Blease: Sam played to his strengths. He backed himself with his speed and was very effective with his use of the ball. He had 25 disposals and took six marks for the game, which was a positive return.

Troy Davis: Troy competed hard and created some strong spoils. He copped a heavy knock in the third quarter and worked through this to continue competing, albeit he was below his recent form.

Tom Gillies: Tom was injured early in the game and did not return.

Jesse Hogan: Jesse started in terrific form kicking two goals in the opening quarter. He was starved of opportunities as the game progressed.

Neville Jetta: Nev played across half-back for most of the game and did some good things. He used the ball well by hand and foot and kicked a good goal. His form has improved in recent weeks.

James Magner: Jimmy played a negating role on one of Geelong's key midfielders and was again very effective while accumulating 27 disposals. He led the side with eight tackles and overall defensive acts. His form has been excellent.

Jordie McKenzie: Jordie won a lot of the ball (30 possessions) and had to work very hard for most of these. He led the side for hardball gets and also contributed with some very good defensive efforts.

Daniel Nicholson: Daniel almost single handedly got the side back in the game in the third quarter, as he ran extremely hard winning 10 possessions and creating scoring shots for Casey. His 25 disposals and five marks was a real positive.

David Rodan: David played a good game in his return to the side after missing three weeks due to his hamstring injury. He had 16 disposals and seven tackles on limited game time, which was a good contribution.

James Strauss: James played another consistent game. His use of the ball combined with his speed to be attacking was a positive in this game. He had 22 disposals and defended well.

Rory Taggert: What Rory did, he did well. He generated a few shots on goal by backing his speed and led the team for the most Inside 50s. However 13 disposals as a forward/midfielder is below what he has been delivering in past weeks.

Josh Tynan: Josh had to compete for a number of hard contested aerial balls and stood his ground with courage on each occasion. He worked to make some good spoils when he was out of position and also won 16 disposals for the game, which was a solid effort.

Rohan Bail:
Rohan had a good return to footy after missing over a month with his knee injury. He was clean at ground level and worked himself into the game well getting through unscathed.

Joel Macdonald: Joel played with aggression and had a run through the midfield and across half-back. He had an impact rebounding with his run and carry.

Maia Westrupp: A much improved game from Maia. His game sense continues to improve and as a result, he is winning more of the ball and getting involved in the game offensively. His basic defensive efforts were also much improved.
