First quarter: Melbourne 6.4 (40) to Brisbane Lions 0.0 (0)

Melbourne got off to a flyer when Maddie Boyd kicked the first goal.

From there, it was all the red and blue, as it booted six goals to zip.

At quarter-time, Melbourne led by 40 points.

Gun cricketer-turned-footballer Jess Cameron was outstanding with three consecutive goals.

Boyd kicked the last goal of the term to have two majors by the first break, as Alicia Eva also chipped in with a goal.

Second quarter: Melbourne 8.5 (53) to Brisbane Lions 1.0 (6)

Melbourne landed its seventh in a row, when Lauren Pearce kicked the first goal of the second term.

The red and blue led by 47 points, before the Lions finally opened their account at the seven-minute mark via Shaliese Law.

Melbourne’s Ainslie Kemp added the only other major for the quarter and at half-time the margin was back out to 47 points.

Ellie Blackburn was one of Melbourne’s most impressive by the main change with 14 touches.

Brooke Lochland also had 14 disposals and Jessica Hosking had 13 possessions.

Third quarter: Melbourne 10.7 (67) to Brisbane Lions 1.1 (7)

Cameron continued her outstanding game with the only two goals for the quarter.

She booted her first at the one-minute mark and then 16 minutes in.  

At three quarter-time, Cameron had five goals to her name.

Melbourne entered the final term with a 60-point lead.  

The Brisbane Lions managed just one behind for the term.

Final quarter: Melbourne 14.7 (91) defeated Brisbane Lions 3.2 (20)

Kate McCarthy landed the Lions’ second goal to open the final term and soon she had her second on the board.

But Melbourne still had the edge in the final term – four goals to two – with superstar Daisy Pearce booting her first for the day, along with Angela Foley.

Cameron continued her brilliant day, booting her sixth goal.

Boyd kicked the last goal of the match to finish with three for the day.  

In the end, Melbourne won by 71 points.
