TOUGH-nut Tomas Bugg says he’ll keep playing the game with gusto and plenty of heart.

Bugg said as long as the club appreciated his style of play, he’ll keep producing it.

But he acknowledged if he overstepped the mark, he would immediately pull back.

“It’s an interesting one. As long as the guys at Melbourne are valuing my input into the team and they like what I’m going about, I don’t worry about what too many other people have to say really,” he said.

“The biggest one [where I overstepped the mark] was probably when I pushed Jack Riewoldt [in round five]. I got on the front foot and spoke to the club and [said] ‘it wasn’t a great look for our club or the game’.

“In terms of the celebration [against Richmond], it’s just a bit of character and it wasn’t premeditated or anything. I just got a bit excited, but as long as it doesn’t take away from the focus of the team environment, then I’ll continue to do that.”

Bugg, who notched up 31 disposals for Melbourne in its 63-point win over the Brisbane Lions at the MCG on Sunday, said he was pleased with his performance.

“I think I had a lot of impact on the game,” he said.

“For my form, I just look at getting a few consistent games together.

“For me, I want to bridge the gap between my best games and my worst games, and this year I’ve done that. Yesterday was probably one of my better performances.”
