Melbourne has added three players to its squad to face Carlton at the MCG on Sunday.

Midfielder Viv Michie, utility Alex Neal-Bullen and tall forward Sam Weideman have been added to the initial line-up.

They have been named on the extended interchange, along with speedster Billy Stretch, tall Cam Pedersen and NAB AFL Rising Star nominees Clayton Oliver and James Harmes.

At this stage, no players have been omitted.

Coach Paul Roos said selection had been a tough one this round after another strong showing by the Casey Scorpions in the VFL.

“We’ve added three to the squad but it’s hard to make changes when the team is playing so well,” Roos said.

“The VFL team has been fantastic so there are a lot of guys putting pressure on.

‘’It’s hard; Viv Michie has been fantastic, as has Alex Neal-Bullen.

“Sam Weideman was injured last week so we’ll see whether he comes up as well.”

With two games remaining in the home and away season, Roos said it was important to manage the training loads of the players throughout the week.

“We’re still pretty young so we’re keeping an eye on signs if the players are getting tired and we’ve given a couple of boys a couple of days off this week,” he said.

“[There hasn’t] been a lot of training but more meetings and making sure that the players understand what the expectations are, what the learnings are from last week’s game and how we need to attack this week.”
