MELBOURNE’S Caleb Windsor has received recognition for his early career talents, receiving the AFL Rising Star nomination for Round 8.

The nomination comes just eight games into his AFL journey and off the back of an important display during the Demons’ eight-point win over Geelong.

The 18-year-old registered a career-high 18 disposals, six marks and nine score involvements.

In addition to his strength in attack, his defensive display matched it with the best, collecting a career-high eight intercept possessions.

"He's just a kid that embraces everything about the game, and continues to improve. He's still got a lot of growth in him," Simon Goodwin told media following the game.

"He provides a lot for us; run, creativity, speed, and we're loving what he's bringing to our footy club."

Windsor has become known for his composure on the big stage and exhibited this poise during Saturday night’s match kicking an integral goal with just eight minutes left on the clock.

The young Demon was quick to gain notoriety within the league, drafted in November last year and debuting for the red and blue just four months later.

He’s spent the past six months settling into a role along Melbourne’s wing, his silky skills and on-field maturity much-loved by the Demon faithful.
